DAE is the file extension of COLLADA, an open XML format maintained by the Khronos Group for moving 3D scenes between authoring tools. It carries geometry, materials, skeletons and animation, while glTF is the Khronos format meant for delivering finished models to apps and the web. Blender dropped DAE support in version 5.0.
GLTF
glTF (GL Transmission Format) is an open 3D format from the Khronos Group, often called the JPEG of 3D.
