DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is a CAD data file format developed by Autodesk for enabling data interoperability between AutoCAD and other programs. It stores 2D and 3D design data in a format that can be read by most CAD applications.
3DS
3DS is the native file format of Autodesk 3D Studio for DOS, the predecessor of 3ds Max. It stores meshes, materials, lights, cameras and basic animation in a binary file, but limits each mesh to 65,535 vertices and 65,535 faces, so today it is mainly used to exchange older models.
