OBJ is a plain-text 3D geometry format from Wavefront. It stores vertices, faces, normals and texture coordinates, and can reference materials through an MTL file, so it carries more than STL while staying readable by almost every 3D tool.

3MF (3D Manufacturing Format) is the 3D printing format of the 3MF Consortium, founded in 2015 by Microsoft and other industry members. A 3MF file is a ZIP package holding the model in XML with its units, colours, materials and the placement of every object on the build plate, and it is the project format of slicers such as PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio and Cura.
