X

X is the DirectX model format Microsoft introduced with DirectX 2.0 in the 1990s. It stores meshes, materials, texture references and skinned animation in text or binary form, but Microsoft now treats it as legacy and has deprecated the D3DX library that loaded it, so it mostly turns up in older games and tools.
