X is the DirectX model format Microsoft introduced with DirectX 2.0 in the 1990s. It stores meshes, materials, texture references and skinned animation in text or binary form, but Microsoft now treats it as legacy and has deprecated the D3DX library that loaded it, so it mostly turns up in older games and tools.

GLB is the binary form of glTF, packing a model's scene description, geometry, textures and animation into one file. That makes it easy to share and fast to load, which is why it is widely used for 3D on websites, in game engines and in AR viewers such as Google's Scene Viewer.
