How does image extraction work?

  1. Upload your PDF

Drop in a PDF. The tool looks for the photos, logos and scanned figures stored inside it, not the text or vector artwork.

  2. Pick an image format

Choose PNG, JPEG or GIF. Every image comes out at the resolution it was stored at, without re-rendering the page around it.

  3. Download the ZIP

Each image is its own file, bundled in one ZIP. A PDF with no embedded images says so instead of returning an empty archive.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions? Contact support.

What exactly does the tool extract?

The raster images stored inside the PDF: photographs, logos, scanned figures, and other bitmap graphics. Each one comes out as its own file at the resolution it was embedded with.

Why did I get a 'no embedded images' message?

Your PDF contains no stored bitmap images, it is likely text-only or drawn with vector graphics. Use Extract PDF Pages to render the pages themselves as images instead.

What output formats are available?

PNG (lossless, best for graphics), JPEG (smaller, best for photos), or GIF. Pick the format in the options before extracting; every image in the PDF is converted to it.

Is it safe to upload my PDF?

Yes. Transfers run over HTTPS, extraction is fully automated, and both your upload and the result are deleted from our servers after 2 hours.
