How metadata removal works

Digital photos quietly carry metadata: the camera model, exposure settings, edit history, and often the exact GPS coordinates of where the picture was taken. Upload an image and we rewrite the file with every writable metadata field removed, while the pixels stay untouched.

  1. Upload your photo

Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP or TIFF image into the box, or browse your device for it.

  2. The metadata comes out

Every writable field goes, from EXIF and GPS to XMP, IPTC and edit history. There is nothing to set.

  3. Download the clean copy

It keeps its original format and quality. Your upload travels over an encrypted connection and is deleted after 2 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Still have questions? Contact support.

What metadata gets removed?

All writable metadata: EXIF (camera, lens, exposure), GPS coordinates, XMP and IPTC fields, and embedded edit history. The visible image itself is never modified.

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

No. Only the metadata sections of the file are rewritten. The pixel data is copied over unchanged, so quality is identical to the original.

Why should I remove metadata before sharing photos?

Photos taken on phones usually embed the exact GPS location and time they were taken. Stripping metadata prevents strangers from learning where you live, work, or travel from a shared image.

Which formats are supported?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF images are supported. The output keeps the same format as the input file.
