What does the thumbnail show?
For PDFs, the first page. For videos, a frame from roughly one second in (skipping black lead-ins). For images, a downscaled copy of the full picture.
What output format do I get?
Always a PNG image, which keeps text and edges crisp and supports transparency where the source has it.
Can I choose the thumbnail size?
Yes, the default is 512 pixels on the longest side, and you can set anything from 16 to 2048 pixels in the advanced options. The aspect ratio is preserved and images are never upscaled.
